Our Story
Built by runners, walkers and everyone in between.

From Mile One: The Outpost Story
Little Silver didn't have a running store. So we built one.
The Outpost opened its doors in July 2024 at 32 Church St — not as a big-box shoe store, but as a place run by people who care. We wanted something different than what was out there: no rushed fittings, no guessing at sizes — just the right shoe, every time.
What we believe: gear should fit right, advice should be honest, and a group run is worth more than a loyalty program. From day one, that meant getting to know every runner, walker and individual who came through the door — their pace, their goals, their bad knee, their first 5K, and everything in between.
Years later, we're not just a shoe store. We're group runs on Saturday mornings. We're the place where a beginner buys their first real pair of shoes and comes back a year later training for a half marathon. We're vendor expos, community events, and a lot of miles logged together.
The Outpost was never about being the biggest store around. It was about being the right one.

Meet the team

Craig Segal
A runner since age 11 — Holmdel Hornet, Villanova, and a Monmouth grad — Craig traded the daily grind to build the local running store he always wanted. More than a decade of fitting experience, and a real love of the sport, drive everything at The Outpost.

Grace Madigan
After someone stole her bike from the beach, Grace started running the streets — and never stopped. A Freehold native, she built her run-specialty and coaching experience in Orlando before her heart pulled her back to Jersey. She still brings the heat: writing, running, and chasing her rescue dog, Bruce.

Dayna Luma
Cut from the middle-school soccer team, Dayna took up cross country to be with friends — and fell for the sport. She ran at Brick Memorial and Monmouth University, and today fits shoes, runs for fun, and helps organize the community events that keep The Outpost moving.
